Writing is in Layers

I had my first book reading today. The host asked me about writing, and writing on different levels for different audiences. It is a good point. Writing is in layers, from the surface entertainment down to the deeper layers of human psychology, relationships and social commentary.

Readers can choose to look at the surface layer when they want light entertainment. As they are drawn into the book, they can delve the deeper layers, and relate the human experiences in the book to their own, even if the characters are robots or aliens.

The book reading host asked me, what does it take to write? How much education should you have? I'm glad I was able to attend two major universities (University of California, Berkeley and the University of Illinois). Creativity can come with or without education. Education helps you grow, but we all have a voice. We are all born with our own unique genius.

Make sure to sing your song,
