Star Wars VII The Force Awakens trailer was shown to the public for the first time 11/28/14 in a few select theaters.
The teaser includes shots of new Star Wars cast members, John Boyega, Oscar Issac, and Daisy Ridley. Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill will reprise their roles as Princess Leia, Hans Solo and Luke Skywalker.
In the trailer, a villainous looking, dark robed character wields a triple blade light saber. A voiceover says "There's been an awakening. Have you felt it--a dark side...and a light."
An upgraded Millennium Falcon zips across the screen in battle with Imperial ships. A new 'bot is shown, with a R2D2 like head and a rolling function.
Daisy Ridley rides a vehicle reminiscent of a speeder bike, and bears a resemblance to Princess Leia in Star Wars VI, leading to speculation she may be the daughter of Leia and Hans Solo. Perhaps Ridley will have the Force, like young Luke Skywalker.
John Boyega pops into view as a stressed, helmet free storm trooper. He may be working for the Empire, or have stolen the uniform to escape Imperial troops. Oscar Issac pilots an X wing set in attack mode, like in Star Wars IV, when they attacked the Death Star. He skims a lake with two other Xwings, looking ready to fight for the rebels.
Star Wars VII will be released December 18, 2015 (not 2014). The next movie, Star Wars VIII will be written and directed by Looper director Rian Johnson. Spin off Star Wars movies, not part of the sequenced movies will be created by Godzilla director Gareth Edwards and by Fantastic Four director Josh Trank.
Star Wars VII is the first Disney created Star Wars film.
